Woods and Manning prevail over Mickelson and Brady

Tom Brady had a successful game, making him forget the rest of his shots.

Tiger Woods did not miss an alley, on the way to a certain revenge at the expense of Phil Mickelson.

The PGA must resume in just over two weeks, and the order will be heavy: the event presented on Sunday was as entertaining as the regular circuit.

A long roll of Woods passed close enough that his partner, Peyton Manning, did not have to putt.

This ensured them a victory by a hole against Mickelson and Brady, during this confrontation "Champions for Charity".

The objective was to raise $ 10 million to fight the COVID-19 crisis. Online donations have increased the amount to about double that amount.

This television-designed event would have been worth offering on pay TV – a formula chosen when Woods and Mickelson crossed paths for $ 9 million in 2018 in Las Vegas, where Mickelson won. A confrontation that seemed forced, lacking in humor and which was ultimately free, due to technical problems.

Add two big names from the NFL, and the Medalist Golf Club brought together four of the biggest stars in the sport on Sunday.

Acting as a reporter in the field, Justin Thomas brought a mixture of humor and insight.

Woods and Manning took the lead on the third hole and never lagged behind, building a three-hole lead on the first nine, where Manning had two birdies.

Brady, whose six Super Bowl titles are a record for a quarter, was mistreated on social media and in the broadcasters' space, by Charles Barkley. Twice, the latter offered to pay $ 50,000 to good works if Brady managed to put his ball on the green, on a par 3. Brady seriously missed on the right, comparable to a pass that we would send in the third row stands.

One blow silenced everyone, however.

On the seventh hole, a par-5, Brady had to absorb a penalty stroke before returning to the fairway. But his fourth hit landed a little beyond the flag, before a retro effect until the cut.

"Shut up, 'Chuck,'" said Brady.

Woods thought he won the hole with a 25-foot putt, which would have been worth an eagle. However, the ball only caressed the hole. They ended up dividing the honors of the hole.

Mickelson released his "Tiger Tomb" putter which he used for a 64 at Pebble Beach in 2012, the last time they were in the last group at the PGA. Woods played 75 that day. It didn't help 'Lefty' that much, but a 15-foot put put his duo one hole apart, with two to play.

On the second nine, all the players went for tee shots, before the alternation. It was essential for the quarters to stay in the aisle, and Brady did so until the 18th.

Woods was playing for the first time since February 16 when he finished last at the Riviera in Los Angeles. He didn't play for the next four weeks, bored in the back, and then the pandemic put golf and sport in general on hold.

"Being in the world of these guys was really special," said Manning. I was nervous all day. But knowing that $ 20 million was raised to help people get through difficult times, it was an honor to be invited. This is something that I will always remember. "
