During the three days of MotoGP preseason testing, which took place at the Losail circuit in Qatar, Spaniard Maverick Viñales (Yamaha) was the fastest. Before the Italian Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha-SRT) and the French Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha-SRT).

If the Yamaha are the only ones who managed to break the barrier of 1 min 54 (1m53s858 for Viñales and 1m53s891 for Morbidelli) on the track of the circuit located just outside of Doha, in the middle of the desert, the Suzuki have shown themselves also in great shape.

Spaniard Alex Rins took the 4e combined place of the tests thanks to his time of 1m54s068, only 61 thousandths from the other Suzuki rider, Joan Mir, also Spanish.

The French Fabio Quartararo of the Yamaha SRT satellite team, fastest time on the second day, and considered as the revelation of the 2019 season of the queen of the motorcycle category, could not improve his time during this third and last test day, victim in particular of a breakdown on his Yamaha M1 2020, the same bike as that of the official drivers Viñales and Valentino Rossi.

Marc Marquez and Honda in trouble

Valentino Rossi, 41, dean of the paddock, was content with twelfth position combined, and fell without seriousness, Monday, February 24, 2020, shortly before the end of the session.

Behind the struggle between the two Japanese teams Yamaha and Suzuki, doubt has settled in with Honda leader and his driver Marc Marquez, returning from an operation on the right shoulder.

Archdominators in the previous season, the Marquez-Honda duo, who signed a new joint lease for a period of four years until 2024, seemed in trouble. Only seventh on all three days, and always in search of the limit, the reigning world champion fell on Sunday February 23, 2020, just like Carl Crutchlow, the English of the LCR-Honda team who has the same motorcycle that Marquez, the Honda model 2020.

But more than these relatively usual adventures in MotoGP, Honda apparently did not find the right settings for the new version of its racing car, Marquez even deciding to borrow the 2019 version to compare the two machines, something new while the next Grand Prix, which will launch the 2020 season, will take place on March 8, 2020 on this same circuit in Losail, Qatar.
