Juventus& # 39; bid to end the 2018-19 unbeaten Serie A season ended abruptly on Sunday while the Italian giants lost 2-0 Genoa. The Bianconeri were starless Cristiano Ronaldowho was rested.

The defending champions were the last undefeated team to remain in the top five European leagues (Serie A, Premier League, Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1), but were defeated by one of their own. Stefano Sturaro, who had been loaned to Genoa in January before making the permanent change, was named substitute to open the scoring.

Goran Pandev added to the head, assuring anger.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri replaced his team after the 3-0 win. Atletico Madrid midweek, but the starting XI still had a lot of quality. Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala, Miralem Pjanic, Leonardo Bonucci and Alex Sandro are just a few of the regular starters on Sunday.

They were completed by several marginal players and many of them made bad impression. In particular, Daniele Rugani has had some difficulties, as noted by sports columnist Adam Digby:

Juventus fell to the water and was saved by the video assistant in the first half, which resulted in a penalty for the hosts. The VAR also scored a goal for Paulo Dybala.

Genoa remained the most hungry team and was rewarded less than two minutes after Sturaro's arrival. Bianconeri fans were hardly surprised:

And less than 10 minutes later, Pandev sent the Marassi into a delirium, while some local fans pushed their celebrations too far:

Juventus have a massive lead in second place NapoliSo defeat will not hurt too much. Allegri knew that he was taking a risk in not playing Ronaldo or Giorgio Chiellini, but that is a risk that Bianconeri could easily afford. They focus mainly on the UEFA Champions League, their title in Serie A being virtually blocked.

But losing on a second unbeaten campaign will still be painful. Juventus won the title without suffering a single loss in the 2011-12 campaign, which remains one of the biggest achievements in the club's history.

They will have plenty of time to reflect on the opportunity lost during the international break. The old lady will not return to the game until March 30, the year of the host of Juventus Empoli.
